The Triangle refers to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metro area in central North Carolina. It gets its name from the three anchor cities and Research Triangle Park (RTP), one of the largest research parks in the country.
People move here for RTP employers (Fidelity, Cisco, Red Hat, Biogen, Epic Games), strong universities (Duke, UNC, NC State), a moderate cost of living compared to the Northeast and West Coast, and a mix of suburban and urban options that works for families, professionals, and retirees.
The population has grown roughly 20% in the last decade. That growth brings new restaurants, better infrastructure, and rising home prices. The tradeoff: traffic is getting worse, and some suburbs are building faster than their roads can handle.
